Janoris Jenkins on having five kids with four women: ‘It ain’t a lot’
Janoris Jenkins is aware of what people say about him having five children with several different women, but the cornerback has repeatedly defended himself as a great father.
In an interview with Paul Schwartz of the New York Post this week, Jenkins was asked about having five kids with four different mothers.
“It ain’t a lot,” he said. “It’s just five kids. A lot is something you can’t handle, and I can handle five kids.”
Jenkins, 27, signed a five-year, $62.5 million contract with the New York Giants this offseason. He certainly has the financial means to care for his kids, but Jenkins insists he provides for them in plenty of other ways.
“I’m a great father,” he said. “I take care of my kids. I do what I got to do. I’m not the guy that’s gonna flash my kids, put ’em out on social media for everybody to see.”
All five of Jenkins’ children, ranging in ages from 2-8, live in Florida. He says he sees them all the time during the offseason and considers all of them to be a “blessing.” He also claims he has “nice relationships” with all of their mothers, though his outlook on sleeping with multiple women is kind of cringe-worthy.
“Have you ever heard anything about my baby mamas?” Jenkins asked. “Have you ever seen my baby mamas come out and say, ‘Oh, he’s not being a father?’ When they were going with me, they understand, ‘OK, he’s a football player. He’s gonna have multiple women.’ That just comes with dating a football player.”
Some NFL players would probably disagree with that mindset.
Now that Jenkins has signed a very lucrative contract, he says he is paying more in child support to each of the four women. And if they’re not happy with the dollar amount, Jenkins says they can do whatever they feel is necessary.
“I called each one of my baby mamas and said, ‘Hey, I’m gonna give you all extra a month. You’re gonna go from this to this. Either you cool with it or you’re not. If you ain’t cool with it, then do what you got to do, you feel me?’ he explained. “I haven’t had any problem.”
Jenkins had four children with three different women when he was entering the NFL Draft back in 2012. He has been arrested multiple times and was kicked off of the Florida football team, so you can decide if you think he’s a good role model. We all found out how trash-talk champion Steve Smith feels about Jenkins a few years back when he unloaded on him over having so many children.
You can understand why Jenkins rubs plenty of people the wrong way. But make no mistake about it — he doesn’t care.
