Report: Jason Pierre-Paul has burns, possible nerve damage
New York Giants defensive lineman Jason Pierre-Paul suffered a hand injury in a fireworks mishap over the 4th of July weekend, but the extent of the damage may not be as severe as initially feared.
Dan Graziano of ESPN reports that Pierre-Paul sustained “some burns” on one hand and that his fingers are being checked for nerve damage. However, the prognosis from doctors is not all that bad.
I am told Pierre-Paul has some burns on one hand and they are checking his fingers for nerve damage but prognosis is not terrible.

That report meshes with one from Jordan Raanan of NJ.com, who said a source with knowledge of the situation told him “everything is going to be OK.”
When word of the fireworks accident first surfaced, some rumors on Twitter indicated that Pierre-Paul mangled his hand pretty badly and could be in danger of losing fingers. That may have been an exaggeration.
In any event, we wish Pierre-Paul well. Even if he didn’t injure his hand badly, he still might have a hard time dealing with all the memes that have been created in the wake of the accident.
