Ja Morant may have just said goodbye to Memphis Grizzlies fans without actually saying it.
The Grizzlies played their final home game of the 2025–26 NBA season on Monday at FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn., against the Cleveland Cavaliers, with Morant not in uniform.
The Memphis guard was ruled out for the remainder of the season in late March due to an elbow injury, prompting rumors that he may have already played his last game with the team.
Following Memphis’ 142-126 loss to the Cavs, Morant fueled those speculations further when he flashed a peace sign to Grizzlies fans. You can check it out in this video here.
Many interpreted that gesture from the two-time NBA All-Star as a sign that he’ll no longer be back in Memphis as a member of the Grizzlies.

Although the former Murray State star is under contract through the 2027-28 season, there is a real possibility that Memphis trades him in the summer. His name had been a fixture in trade rumors before the February deadline, and the Grizzlies could restart talks with interested teams about a trade in the offseason.
Taken by the Grizzlies second overall in the 2019 NBA Draft, Morant has career averages of 22.4 points, 7.4 assists and 4.6 rebounds across 327 games.
