Jerry Jeudy looks on

The New York Jets supposedly wanted to acquire Jerry Jeudy in a trade before the season, and it sounds like there is a difference of opinions regarding why the deal did not come together.

Zack Rosenblatt and Dianna Russini of The Athletic published a story on Tuesday detailing some of what led to Jets general manager Joe Douglas being fired. One of the tidbits included was that Douglas wanted to offer the Denver Broncos a second-day draft pick and veteran wide receiver Allen Lazard in exchange for Jeudy during the offseason. Jets owner Woody Johnson reportedly “nixed” the deal, however.

On Wednesday, Jeudy appeared to respond to the report with some posts on social media. Jeudy, who wound up being traded to the Cleveland Browns, seemed to joke that he and God were the ones who vetoed the trade to the Jets, not Johnson.

Jeudy has just 39 catches through 10 games with Cleveland. The Browns are 2-8 on the season, so they are not in any better shape than the 3-8 Jets. Still, it sounds like Jeudy is happy that he did not wind up in New York.

There has been a lot of information leaking out that paints a completely dysfunctional picture of the Jets organization, so Jeudy might feel fortunate to have avoided all of that.
