Jerry Jones hopes loss to Vikings isn’t ‘terminal’
The Dallas Cowboys are still tied with the Philadelphia Eagles for first in the NFC East even after coming up short against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night, but team owner Jerry Jones seems to think the loss is one that could be difficult to bounce back from.
Jones hinted to reporters after the game that he believes the loss could be costly, and he said he hopes it doesn’t turn out to be “terminal.”
Jerry Jones: “It’s disappointing. Disappointing. We’ll have to pay for this one. Hopefully it won’t be terminal.”

The Cowboys had chances to win the game late, so Jones was obviously speaking from a place of great frustration. While it’s always good to win at home against an opponent that is in the playoff hunt, the Cowboys are still 5-4 and in solid shape. The remarks Ezekiel Elliott made about the loss seemed a bit more rational than what Jones said.
Ezekiel Elliott on why he's not concerned about Dallas not having a win over a team in the playoff picture: "I know what type of team we have. … We can be a really good team. We just need to make sure we go out there and put that on the field. There's a lot of football left."

Fortunately for Dallas, the NFC East is not all that good this year. The Eagles have been inconsistent like the Cowboys, and the New York Giants and Washington Redskins are nowhere near contention. Jones has gone out of his way multiple times this season to assure fans he is not hitting the panic button, but talking about a loss potentially being “terminal” sends a different type of message.
