The New York Jets moved quickly to honor the late Dennis Byrd.
The Jets will be wearing helmet decals for their Monday night game against the Cardinals that feature the No. 90, which was Byrd’s number during his brief but promising NFL career with the Jets. The team also retired the number in 2012.

A second-round pick in 1989 by the Jets, Byrd’s career ended abruptly when he suffered a broken neck in 1992 that left him paralyzed. Byrd was a star in the making at the time of his injury and had recorded 27 career sacks.
The 50-year-old Byrd was killed on Saturday in a car crash near Tulsa.
The Jets plan to wear the decal on their helmets next week against the Ravens, and may consider it for the rest of the season, according to Pro Football Talk.
