Report: Jets expect to sign Logan Ryan
Logan Ryan announced last week that he will not be re-signing with the Tennessee Titans, and the veteran cornerback appears to be on the verge of landing with a new team.
Manish Mehtha of the New York Daily News reported on Tuesday that the New York Jets expect to sign Ryan to a one-year deal. The Jets have reportedly been discussing Ryan for weeks and looking for ways to increase their available cash to sign the 29-year-old.
While the Jets still have plenty of salary cap space, Mehta notes that there have been cash-flow issues for the team. Ryan said this week that he would have been willing to return to Tennessee on a one-year deal at $9.5 million like he made last season, so the Jets will likely have to be him somewhere around that number.
Ryan would be a great addition to New York’s secondary at a time in the offseason when starting-caliber players are difficult to find. Ryan had 113 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 4 interceptions for Tennessee last season. He spent the first four seasons of his career with the New England Patriots after being drafted by them in the third round in 2013.
