Jets fans raise $10,000 for ‘Fire John Idzik’ billboard
If John Idzik didn’t already know how New York Jets fans felt about him, the general manager will be able to read it on a billboard in the coming weeks.
The co-founders of the website FireJohnIdzik.com announced on Monday that they have raised enough money to pay for a billboard outside of MetLife Stadium calling for Jets owner Woody Johnson to fire Idzik. The goal was $10,000, and it has already been surpassed in less than a week.
“The location of the billboard will be announced in the coming days on our social media pages. We cannot disclose the location yet but we will say that we give our Joe Namath guarantee that it will be very visible,” co-founder Jason Koeppel told Metro New York. “We are still receiving message from people who want to donate but we have already raised our $10,000 goal.”
The site will also soon be selling “Fire John Idzik” shirts. The goal is for the billboard to be up from late November through the start of the New Year. Koeppel said the $10,000 goal was reached so quickly that his team has to kick it into overdrive to finalize a plan.
Welcome to the billboard trolling community, John. You’re in good company.
