Report: Jets make major decision on Haason Reddick situation

The New York Jets might finally be ready to move on from Haason Reddick.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported on Tuesday that the Jets have given Reddick a “short window” to seek a trade. Reddick’s new agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has begun reaching out to teams that could potentially have interest in the star pass-rusher.

The Jets have given Haason Reddick and his reps a short window to seek a trade, per sources. His new representation, Drew Rosenhaus, has been reaching out to teams over the last 12 hours to gauge interest.

The Jets traded a conditional third-round draft pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for Reddick during the offseason. Reddick was set to make $14.25 million in the final year of his contract this season, and he supposedly told the Jets he would not demand a new deal. The 30-year-old then decided to hold out from training camp and has not reported to the team since.

Reddick asked to be traded prior to the season, but the Jets said publicly that they had no intention of granting the request. They have changed their stance now that Reddick has continued his holdout into Week 7.

Reddick had 11 sacks for the Eagles last season, so he was expected to have a big impact in New York. A report over the weekend claimed the Jets offered him a significant raise at one point, but it seems like Reddick is seeking a multi-year deal.

Rosenhaus, who is one of the most influential agents in sports, was hired by Reddick after Reddick recently parted ways with his former agents. Given all that has unfolded, any interested team would likely have to offer Reddick a multi-year extension — or at least promise him one via a handshake agreement — in order to facilitate a trade.
