Jets release QB Bryce Petty
The New York Jets have a crowded quarterback room that now includes No. 3 overall pick Sam Darnold, and the team finally made a long overdue roster move on Thursday to address that situation.
According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets have informed former fourth-round pick Bryce Petty that he will be released.

The Jets still have veteran Josh McCown, Christian Hackenberg and Teddy Bridgewater to go along with Darnold. Even if the Jets carry three quarterbacks, one of Hackenberg or Bridgewater is likely to be cut. McCown had a decent season in 2017 before getting injured, and they may want him to start the season under center depending on how things go for Darnold in his first NFL training camp.
Petty had some chances to start for the Jets, but he never proved he is capable of being an NFL starter. In 10 career games, he has thrown four touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions and has a passer rating of 57.7.
