Jim Harbaugh’s wife wants him to ditch his $8 Walmart pleated pants
San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh makes about $5 million per season. That would be enough money for most people to live comfortably, to say the least. However, a multimillion-dollar salary has not stopped Harbaugh from appreciating a good bargain when it comes to his wardrobe.
On Tuesday, Harbaugh’s wife Sarah called into 99.7 FM’s “Fernando & Greg Show” to discuss her husband’s sense of fashion — or lack thereof. Sarah wanted to make it clear that she is not responsible for his black sweater and khaki pants combo.
“I will not take the blame for his outfits,” she said, according to Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News. “I’ve thrown (his pants) away many of times. I’ve asked him: ‘Please, pleats are gone. Wear the flat front.’ He has a flattering body.”
Sarah sounds serious. In fact, she said she once threw out Jim’s pleated khaki pants before he traveled to Indianapolis for the NFL Scouting Combine, but he was able to find a Walmart store and pick up some more.
“I threw them out and when he went to the combine, he found a Walmart,” Sarah said. “They were $8. $8!”
Harbaugh is apparently a man who is set in his ways, though Sarah said he has finally agreed to make a wardrobe change next season if it bothers her so much. Given the success the Niners have had since Harbaugh took over as head coach, fans probably don’t want him to change a thing.
