Jim Irsay: Colts could be 6-0 with better luck
Jim Irsay seems to be in a bit of denial over how bad the Indianapolis Colts have been.
At just 2-4, the Colts are reeling after blowing a 23-9 fourth quarter lead against Houston. The outspoken owner, however, believes that the team is just a few bounces away from being a whole lot better.
“We could be 6-0 if the ball bounces a little differently,” Irsay said Tuesday, via Fox59.
Right. Well. Needless to say, Irsay isn’t throwing coach Chuck Pagano or general manager Ryan Grigson under the bus for the team’s struggles.
“Of course, we are disappointed,” Irsay said. “That being said, I feel confident that we have the right group of leaders, of guys – the quarterback, head coach, general manager. I feel confident we have those pillars in place and through time, it will show.
“I have patience and nothing has changed. When I made the decision in January, it was a decision that was well thought out and a long-term decision.”
Irsay recently voiced his hope that the Colts were heading toward a “third golden era.” Obviously, things aren’t trending that way yet. Perhaps deep down he knows it’s further away than he’d hoped.
