Jim Schwartz: Titus Young will have knee surgery ‘unless he doesn’t show up for it’

It took nearly two full seasons, but it appears Titus Young has officially become persona non grata with the Detroit Lions. The second-year wide receiver was placed on injured reserve earlier this week and will not play for the team again this season. Young apparently has a knee injury and is scheduled to have surgery, which opened the door for head coach Jim Schwartz to toss an epic zinger at the former Boise State star.

On Wednesday, Schwartz confirmed that Young is set to have knee surgery and threw in a little extra.

To say that Young deserves any diggers he gets from his coach would be an epic understatement. Between punching teammates and attempting to sabotage his own offense, Titus has been more than a handful for the Lions coaching staff since he was drafted last April. He’s a waste of talent who had the potential to be a major factor in an explosive offense, but he has been incapable of acting like an adult and doing his job. If Schwartz is still the coach in Detroit next season, I’d be surprised if Young is on the depth chart.
