Joe Buck has hilarious description of production meetings with Bill Belichick

Bill Belichick

Those who know Bill Belichick personally will tell you he is a much more friendly guy than the one who looks like he would choose being waterboarded over answering questions from the media, but the Patriots coach is apparently just as careful not to hand out information during production meetings as he is in press conferences. He just has a much more polite way of going about it.

Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times spoke with some of the biggest names in NFL broadcasting about the inside information they get during production meetings, and it ranged from some coaches giving away Super Bowl game plan secrets to others who aren’t quite as trusting. You can probably guess which category Belichick falls under, but FOX’s Joe Buck said the future Hall of Famer is willing to talk at length about anything other than football.

“One on one he’s great with Troy (Aikman), and sometimes Troy just handles it and translates for the rest of us,” Buck said. “In a big group setting, Bill’s very nice and friendly. But he’ll talk about baseball, talk about the Civil War, about the Iranian nuclear program. But he basically won’t even tell you if Tom Brady’s playing that week.”

That sounds about right.

If you want to know how much Belichick hates being asked controversial questions, just look at the death stare he gave a reporter who brought up Antonio Brown last week. However, he obviously is not the same guy in a private setting, though trying to catch opponents by surprise seems to be a full-time job for him.
