John Daly predicts 2,000 yard season for Darren McFadden
After a lengthy rain delay on Friday, winds caused havoc on the British Open on Saturday, causing play to be halted. Look what it did to Louis Oosthuizen’s ball on the 13th hole.
During the stoppage, the always entertaining John Daly used the time to answer a few questions via Periscope. Daly, a Cowboys fan, was asked who his favorite member of the team was. While it was tough to narrow it down to just one, he did manage to throw out a lofty prediction in his response.
“I love them all,” Daly said, per The Dallas Morning News. “Romo is my buddy. I’m glad we signed Dez Bryant. We have the best offense line in NFL football coming up and Darren McFadden is going roll. He is going to have over 2,000 yards is my prediction.”
The Cowboys do have the luxury of one of the best offensive lines in the NFL, a unit that helped pave the way for DeMarco Murray to rush for 1,845 yards last season. However, there have only been seven 2,000-yard rushing seasons in NFL history. Other than O.J. Simpson, the other six players each played in 16 games during their respective milestone years. McFadden has participated in each regular season game just once, in 2014.
McFadden was selected No. 4 overall in the 2008 draft and has always carried immense potential. Unfortunately, injuries always seemed to get in the way of him realizing it. Perhaps a change of scenery away from the Raiders, upgraded offensive line, and continued fortune with health will have John Daly telling us at the end of the season “I told you so.”
