Jonathan Dwyer deactivated after arrest for alleged domestic violence
Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer was arrested on Wednesday for alleged aggravated assault, according to a few reports, and the team has already deactivated him.
The Arizona Republic reports police say Dwyer was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault.
CBS evening news says Dwyer also prevented someone from calling 911.
ESPN’s Jane McManus says the NFL is investigating the matter and that the Cardinals have already deactivated the back.
Larry Brown Sports called Phoenix police to confirm the arrest and charges. Police were directing inquiries to a public information email because they were being inundated with phone calls and media requests regarding the arrest. We will have more information as it becomes available.
Dwyer was a sixth-round pick by the Steelers in 2010. This is his first season with the Cardinals. He has 51 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries through two games.
