Jordan Cameron will make retirement decision after season

Jordan Cameron

There has been a lot of speculation that Jordan Cameron will retire from the NFL after suffering his fourth concussion, but the tight end says that is not the case.

Cameron spoke with the Miami Herald’s Adam H. Beasley and made it clear that he will not make a decision about his future until after the season.

“I’m not shutting the door on anything,” Cameron told the Miami Herald. “I’m going to wait until after the season. I’m kind of glad I get to talk to you because everyone’s counting me out — he’s done, he’s retiring. No, I’m not. I’ll think about that after the season. That’s really all I have to say about it.”

The tight end was placed on injured reserve in November, over a month after suffering a concussion against the Cleveland Browns in Week 3. Reports emerged in October saying that Cameron was concerned about his long-term health and mulling his NFL future. Despite what the reports have said, Cameron has not made a decision.

The former Pro Bowl tight end says he has been examined by a head trauma specialist who has given him positive feedback. He also says he feels like he is still in his physical prime.

Cameron’s best season came in 2013 when he caught 80 passes for 917 yards and seven touchdowns.
