Those who watched Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen at his Pro Day on Friday certainly came away impressed.
According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Allen “dazzled” in front of a number of top decision-makers. That included a contingent of top Cleveland Browns executives including owner Jimmy Haslam, coach Hue Jackson, and general manager John Dorsey. New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur was also present.
Those who observed had nothing but good things to say about Allen.
“We knew about his arm talent, the accuracy is improved and I think the feet look good,” NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock said. “From a physical talent perspective, this kid is a better athlete with more arm talent (than Carson Wentz). As a piece of clay to mold, this kid is pretty special.
“I’ve been laughing for about the last 10 minutes..Today he was just kind of showing off. He’s worked really hard on his footwork and his touch. The accuracy has followed. It’s great to get in habits in gym shorts but when you’re under fire, how’s it going to hold up?”
That is the big question. There’s a reason Allen has been in the mix for the top pick, but he’s still not a sure thing. It certainly sounds like his Pro Day only helped him, though.
