Josh Rosen leaves Week 4 game with potential head injury

Josh Rosen Dolphins

Josh Rosen was given a chance to start for the Miami Dolphins on Sunday in their game against the Dallas Cowboys, but his day didn’t last very long after he left with an apparent head injury.

Rosen’s head slammed into the turf on a scramble play in the second quarter, and he went to the sideline and was examined by medical personnel. He was later seen without a helmet on.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, who won Miami’s starting QB job out of training camp, took over after Rosen went down. Rosen may have ended up in the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Miami was trailing 10-3 at the time Rosen left Sunday’s game. Rosen completed 7-of-16 passes for 116 yards before exiting.

The Dolphins were shut out 43-0 by the New England Patriots last week. Fitzpatrick started and went 11-of-21 with three interceptions, throwing for only 89 yards. Rosen came in later in the game and went 7-for-18 for 97 yards and one interception.

UPDATE: Rosen later returned to the game.
