Josh Rosen traded to Dolphins for second-round pick

Josh Rosen

The long-anticipated trade of Josh Rosen has been completed.

The Miami Dolphins acquired Rosen in a trade with the Arizona Cardinals on Friday, trading a late second-round pick to make it happen. They gave Arizona the No. 62 overall pick, which the Cards used to draft former UMass receiver Andy Isabella.

In addition to Rosen, the Dolphins are getting a 2020 5th-round pick.

The trade makes complete sense for Miami. They are rebuilding in 2019 and have Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback. They probably are planning to take a quarterback high in the 2020 NFL Draft, and now they at least will get a season to evaluate Rosen, who was a first-round draft pick last season. He’s so cheap that it really doesn’t hurt at all to have him on the roster, even as a backup.
