Julian Edelman has X-rays come back negative on rib injury
Julian Edelman left Sunday’s game against the New York Jets with a rib injury, but initial indications are that he may have avoided anything serious.
Edelman underwent X-rays after exiting the 30-14 win, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that they came back negative.
#Patriots WR Julian Edelman suffered a rib injury that knocked him out of the game today against the #Jets, sources say. But X-Rays were negative. An early positive sign.

Even if the injury was one Edelman could have played through, there was no need for him to in a game that the New England Patriots completely dominated. Edelman will likely undergo more tests, but it’s hard to draw conclusions from the fact that he didn’t play in the second half on Sunday.
Edelman appeared to suffer the injury when he was speared by a Jets defender while on the ground. He has battled a number of injuries over the past few seasons and has played in 16 games in a season just once in the past five years. Hopefully the latest is nothing serious.
