Julian Edelman leaves Week 4 game with chest injury
New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman left his team’s game against the New York Jets late in the second quarter on Sunday with an injury, and he was not on the field or the sideline at the start of the second half.
The Patriots announced at halftime that Edelman was questionable to return with a chest injury. He appeared to grab his midsection after being hit hard by a couple of Jets defenders with about 1:00 remaining in the first half. Here’s a video of the play:

It will be hard to get a read on how serious the injury is, as the Patriots were leading 20-0 at the time Edelman left. Even after releasing Antonio Brown this week, they probably did not need Edelman to beat the Jets.
Edelman has battled a number of injuries over the past few seasons. He missed a large portion of the preseason with a hand injury and has played in 16 games in a season just once in the past five years.
