Titans’ Jurrell Casey backpedals after saying Blake Bortles will choke
Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Jurrell Casey is backtracking after making some seemingly inflammatory comments about Blake Bortles.
In an appearance on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville on Tuesday, Casey appeared to let loose on the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback.
“As long as Bortles is back there, if the ball game is in his hands, he’s going to choke,” said the Pro Bowler, per Charean Williams of ProFootballTalk.
For reference, the Titans defeated the Jaguars in Week 17 by the final of 15-10 in a game where Bortles threw for just 158 yards and tossed two picks.
“We didn’t want their offense to score at all, and it looks like that’s what happened,” Casey said after the win. “Looks like that’s what happened. Sorry. At the beginning of the week, I was talking about that. King of the South? King of the South? Sounds great, but got to be able to beat us. Jacksonville didn’t play great today. Appreciate the turnovers. Helped us out a lot.”
Shortly after his comments on Tuesday picked up steam however, Casey backpedaled and took to Twitter to clarify his remarks about Bortles.
Chill, y’all. I was just hyping our defense. If we put the pressure, some QBs will choke.#OnToKC#TitanUp https://t.co/tWnuLPXK2X

Of course, there’s no love lost between Bortles and the rest of the AFC South, but Casey probably isn’t quite that brazen with his Bortles slander.
