Kadarius Toney was arrested in Georgia last week on charges of allegedly strangling a woman.
Toney, who was a first-round pick by the New York Giants in 2021, was arrested on February 6 in Douglas County, Ga., on one charge of aggravated assault – strangulation, and one charge of obstructing/harassing 911 calls. A judge issued $25,000 bond for each charge.
TMZ Sports obtained police documents related to the matter and shared more information on the situation.
According to TMZ, Toney was “accused of putting his hand around a woman’s throat during a dispute at a Georgia residence on Jan. 14.” He allegedly squeezed with enough force to prevent her from breathing. The woman was said to have been left with red marks on her neck and petechial hemorrhaging in her eyes.
Toney was also said to have taken away the woman’s phone, preventing her from calling for help. An arrest warrant for Toney was issued on Jan. 15. He was not arrested and put into jail until Feb. 6.

The legal problems are the latest issue in the 26-year-old’s career.
Toney was traded by the Giants to the Chiefs after fewer than two seasons with them. He won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs in 2022 but was cut by the team in August. Toney caught on with the Browns after that but only appeared in three games. He was targeted once but did not have any catches last season. He had just two rushing attempts.
Toney’s peak as a pro came when he scored 3 touchdowns in 7 regular season games with the Chiefs in 2022. He had a big role in the Super Bowl when he had a big punt return and then caught a go-ahead touchdown. Things have mostly gone downhill for him since then.
