The Dallas Cowboys are planning to interview at least one very familiar face for their head coach position.
The Cowboys have requested permission to interview Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Adam Schefter reports that Moore is expected to meet with Dallas at some point before Philadelphia’s Divisional Round playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Moore was a backup quarterback with the Cowboys from 2015-2017. He then retired from playing and joined the team’s coaching staff as a quarterbacks coach in 2018. After a season in that role, Moore spent four years as the offensive coordinator in Dallas.

The 36-year-old Moore has since been the OC of the Los Angeles Chargers and Eagles, where he remains currently. He has extensive experience for someone his age, which is why it is no surprise that the Cowboys and other teams are giving him consideration as a head coach candidate.
Moore even generated some head coach interest when he was still working in Dallas.
Having both worked and played under Jerry Jones and company, Moore may have an advantage over some other candidates for the Cowboys job. He has also received an interview request from another NFC team, however, so he might have options once the Eagles’ season comes to an end.
