Kenny Stills urges Texans fans to lay off ‘negativity’ after Hopkins trade
Kenny Stills understands how his team’s fans are feeling after the dubious DeAndre Hopkins trade, but he doesn’t think vitriol will get them anywhere.
During a Twitter Q&A on Friday, the Houston Texans receiver got a question about if the team hates head coach and GM Bill O’Brien as much as the fans.
“We’re all going to miss HOP,” replied Stills. “But it’s gunna be crucial for us as a team and fan base to move forward. Negativity won’t get us anywhere.”
Discontent with the team and with O’Brien specifically has reached a fever pitch after Hopkins was curiously dealt to Arizona last month for a package centered around running back David Johnson and a 2020 second-round pick. Even Houston’s remaining star does not appear to be pleased with the team.
That said, Stills, who is primed for a bigger role next season without Hopkins, is delivering the message that the fanbase probably needs to hear right now.
