It’s the latest move in the dismantling of the Raiders, mostly involving moving a lot of highly-paid players. The plans were set in motion before the season when the team opted to trade Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears instead of signing him to a long-term deal.
Mack, Irvin’s former teammate, cryptically tweeted as the news broke in what seemed to be a response to Irvin’s release.

It’s no secret that Mack keeps tabs on his former team. Given how Jon Gruden shoved him out of town, Mack is probably downright happy that Irvin is getting the opportunity to get out of there.
