Stafford hasn’t played since Nov. 3 due to a back injury that he had been playing through. The Lions had repeatedly refused to shut down their quarterback despite his lack of progress, but this seals it for his 2019 season.
Unfortunately for Stafford, he was on pace for one of his best seasons before he got hurt. He’d thrown for 2,499 yards and 19 touchdowns in eight games. Not coincidentally, they have failed to win any games since he went down with his injury.
