Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins reiterated his support for Colin Kaepernick on Wednesday while simultaneously taking a pretty clear swipe at one NFL starting quarterback.
With the Eagles preparing to take on the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars, Jenkins said that he thinks Kaepernick deserves to have a quarterback job in the NFL, and that the play of the Jaguars is proof of that.
In discussing the difference between the fight against systemic oppression and the NFL’s blackballing of Colin Kaepernick, Malcolm Jenkins says, “I can turn on the tape this week of our opponent and see that Colin Kaepernick deserves a job.”

That’s a pretty obvious swipe at Bortles, who was temporarily benched last week and has been criticized by many for his mediocre play this season. Of course, Jenkins’s opinion is one shared by a lot of people. There have been plenty of rumors about the Jaguars acquiring a new quarterback, though Kaepernick hasn’t popped up in those rumors.
Jenkins, meanwhile, has faced criticism from one prominent Kaepernick supporter for perceived selling out of the causes the former 49ers quarterback supporter. Jenkins certainly went there on Wednesday.
