Report: Marshawn Lynch still considering NFL return
Marshawn Lynch has officially retired from the NFL, but that does not mean the 30-year-old running back can’t change his mind.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is reporting that Lynch remains “up in the air” about returning to the NFL this season. Florio’s source said that if Lynch does decide he still wants to play football, he could file paperwork to end his retirement sometime around Week 4 or Week 5.
The Seahawks would have the first shot at keeping Lynch on their roster, as he was still under contract with them when he called it quits. If Beast Mode comes out of retirement before the Nov. 1 trade deadline, he could become a free agent if the Seahawks decide to release him. If he returns after the deadline and Seattle still cuts him, Lynch would have to go through waivers.
For whatever reason, people don’t seem to believe that Lynch is done with football. Perhaps that is because he was still playing at such a high level when he retired, which is rare for NFL players. In an interview back in June, Lynch seemed downright annoyed when asked if his football career really is over. You can see a video of his reaction here.
One thing is for certain: there would be no shortage of interest in Lynch if he has a change of heart. He’s a one-of-a-kind talent and competitor.
