Martavis Bryant claims Colts safety intentionally hit him late

Martavis Bryant

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant thinks he was targeted in Saturday’s preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Bryant offhandedly accused Colts safety Matthias Farley of hitting him late with intent to injure while Bryant was going down under a tackle.

“I feel better about my body and my ability on the field. I don’t have to worry about taking so many injuries from different plays like yesterday where he tried to hurt me,” Bryant said, via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. “Just making sure my body feels good and I stay in shape.”

In a follow-up question, Bryant clarified that he felt the hit was “definitely intentional.”

“I was already on the ground. It is what it is,” Bryant said. “My foot was already bent. … [Farley] just came in and hit me.”

On the bright side, Bryant wasn’t hurt by the play and got up immediately. After all the trouble he put himself through, it would have been quite the cruel blow had he been hurt in preseason.
