Report: Marvin Lewis could remain with Bengals ‘in some capacity’

The Cincinnati Bengals may decide that it is finally time to move on from Marvin Lewis as the team’s head coach, but that does not necessarily mean Lewis’ days with the franchise are over.
Jim Owczarski of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Bengals owner and president Mike Brown has already met with Lewis, but no final decision has been made on the coach’s future. The two sides could meet again on Tuesday. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, it’s possible that Lewis could remain with the Bengals in a role other than coaching.
Said on @nflnetwork yesterday: Marvin Lewis and #Bengals owner Mike Brown meet every year 24-72 hours after finale. Plan is to follow usual process. Lot of options on table, including Lewis staying with team in some capacity.

That would likely mean the Bengals want Lewis to join their front office, but it’s unclear if that is something Lewis has interest in. A previous report claimed that the 59-year-old has already decided to part ways with Cincinnati, though Lewis shot it down.
Lewis just finished his 15th season as the head of the Bengals. He has led the team to the playoffs seven times but never won a postseason game. With two of the candidates the Bengals were eyeing reportedly returning to their respective teams, you have to wonder if Lewis can survive another season without being given the axe.
