Matthew Stafford looks on

Quarterback Matthew Stafford is reportedly looking for a re-negotiated contract with the Los Angeles Rams, and the two sides are at a bit of an impasse.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Friday that Stafford is seeking a new contract that would give him more guaranteed money beyond 2024. Despite this, Stafford has been in attendance for voluntary workouts, and does not appear to be on the outs with the organization.

Though Stafford has three seasons left on his contract and $31 million remaining in guaranteed money, none of it is spread out over the final two seasons of the deal. The quarterback is clearly seeking some additional guarantees while he still can.

The 36-year-old quarterback is coming off a bounceback season that saw him throw for 3,965 yards and 24 touchdowns as he led the Rams back to the playoffs. There have been rumors in the past that the team might want to move on from him, but they have said he is absolutely their quarterback for 2024. Now Stafford wants some extra security to guarantee that.
