MC Hammer Speaks to 49ers

The 5-1 49ers are coming off a bye and had a nice surprise waiting for them when they returned to practice Tuesday. They were greeted by former rapper MC Hammer who spoke to the team about handling the “trials and tribulations” that can come with being a public figure in sports and entertainment. Hammer would know all about the oscillation of a career — he went from being a star to filing for bankruptcy.

Reporter Matt Maiocco reports that 49ers’ vice president of football affairs, Keena Turner, is the one who arranged his appearance.

Several 49ers players tweeted their appreciation of Hammer’s speech.

Defensive tackle Ian Williams said “big shoutout to MCHammer who came in today and talked to us rookies about some things… Crazy I was able to meet and talk to him #2legit.”

“Today mchammer stopped bye to speak to us.. Great dude” long snapper Brian Jennings wrote.

CB Chris Culliver echoed their thoughts, saying “listening to a good guy with good advise MCHammer thank you.”

It sounds like the players enjoyed the appearance, but do you think they would have felt differently if they knew the Oakland native was also a Raiders fan?

At least the Niners appear to have responded better to this motivational speaker than their last one.
