Melvin Gordon turns holdout into soap advertisement deal
Melvin Gordon’s holdout did not accomplish much except for cost him money, but he did turn things into an endorsement deal.
The Los Angeles Chargers running back shared a parody video on his Twitter account Tuesday. The video was made in tandem with Dr. Squatch Soap and makes light of his holdout, while advertising the soap company.
I've been getting a lot of questions about the Holdout, but this video from @DrSquatchSoapCo should explain things:https://t.co/1d18K9XkZq

Gordon missed the first three games of the season before reporting to the Chargers. He had cost himself over $2 million in fines and lost salary by not playing, though he said the Chargers reduced his fines to entice him to report.
Melvin Gordon said the Chargers reduced his fines in half: “It comes with consequences siting out,” he said. “To think the fines would be completely washed away, I knew if I got in this situation, it wouldn’t be. You do something against the rules, you pay the consequences.”

Gordon’s holdout appears to have been a miscalculation. A 2015 first-round pick, he likely will be playing for a new team next season. We’re guessing the endorsement video barely makes up the money he lost.
