Michael Thomas unloads on Derek Carr after scary Chris Olave injury
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave suffered another concussion on Sunday, and one of his former teammates feels Derek Carr is to blame for the injury.
Olave took a brutal hit from two Carolina Panthers defenders during the first quarter of the Saints’ game against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. Panthers cornerback Xavier Woods was called for unnecessary roughness for hitting a defenseless receiver in the head area. Olave laid motionless on the turf for several seconds before being loaded onto a backboard and carted off.
Immediately after the play, former Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas took to social media to unload on Carr. Thomas said Carr gets scared in the pocket and just throws the ball up. Thomas added that Carr has “coaches trying to cover his flaws up” and went as far as to say the quarterback “need his a– whooped” (edited by LBS for profanity).
You can see the tweets, but be aware that they contain curse words:

The pass from Carr certainly put Olave in a dangerous position. It was the type of play that can be referred to as a “hospital ball,” and the result was a second concussion in three weeks for Olave.
That said, Thomas is extremely biased. He was cut by the Saints following the 2023 season, and his time with the team ended poorly.
Carr probably feels terrible about the throw that resulted in Olave’s injury. That does not mean the pass is a summary of his entire NFL career, which is what Thomas would like you to believe.
