New Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy is getting to work immediately assembling his coaching staff.
According to multiple reports, New Orleans Saints linebackers coach Mike Nolan will be the new defensive coordinator for the Cowboys.
From a source in New Orleans on news Mike Nolan headed to #Cowboys to join Mike McCarthy: “That’s what I’ve heard in the building… Mike came by and said goodbye. I’d say it’s pretty certain”

Nolan has been around for a long time and will bring an experienced coaching hand to the defense. He spent roughly three and a half years as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. The Cowboys will be his ninth defensive coordinator job. Nolan was also the one who hired McCarthy as offensive coordinator in San Francisco, an arrangement that lasted one season before McCarthy landed the Packers head coaching gig.
As for the Cowboys’ new offensive coordinator, it sounds possible that the role could be filled by a holdover from Jason Garrett’s staff.
