The New England Patriots have reportedly received the worst possible news on wide receiver Julian Edelman.
According to the MMQB’s Albert Breer, an MRI confirmed that Edelman suffered a complete ACL tear in his right knee during Friday’s preseason game against the Detroit Lions.

Such an injury would almost certainly mean Edelman, the team’s leading receiver in 2016, will miss the entire 2017 season.
Edelman suffered the injury while cutting during Friday’s game. New England feared the worst immediately, but getting the confirmation that Tom Brady’s favorite target will miss the entire year is an absolute gut punch for the reigning Super Bowl champions.
