Nathaniel Hackett lands a new NFL coaching job

Nathaniel Hackett is headed back to the AFC East.

The ex-Denver Broncos head coach Hackett will be joining the Miami Dolphins, Dan Graziano of ESPN reported on Thursday. Hackett is set to serve as the quarterbacks coach on the staff of new Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley.

The 46-year-old Hackett spent last season as a defensive analyst for the Green Bay Packers. Prior to that, he gained almost a decade of experience as an offensive coordinator (with the Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, Packers, and New York Jets) and also served as head coach of the Broncos during the 2022 season.

But Hackett has certainly earned a certain level of infamy during his NFL coaching career. He was a miserable 4-11 (.267) as the head coach of Denver before getting fired and oversaw bottom-10 offensive finishes during both of his seasons as Jets OC from 2023-24.

It also didn’t help that Hackett often appeared clueless on the sidelines over the last several years. He was regularly getting memed for his poor showings with the Jets and was once even seemingly ignored entirely by Aaron Rodgers during a game.

In Miami though, Hackett will be getting a chance to rebuild his reputation as an offensive coach. It remains to be seen however if one of the players whom Hackett will be working with as the new QBs coach is Tua Tagovailoa, who sounds very ready to move on from the Dolphins this offseason.
