NFL’s 5 major award winners will wear different uniforms next season

The NFL is implementing a very exclusive uniform change to honor its most recent season award winners.

For the first time in league history, the five winners of the top Associated Press awards will reportedly be made to wear jerseys with a gold-trimmed NFL shield patch logo. The list of honorees includes NFL MVP Josh Allen, Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley, Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain II, and the two Rookie of the Year winners, Jayden Daniels and Jared Verse.

The gold emblem will replace the traditional NFL shield logo found on the collar of the jerseys. All five players will wear the custom uniforms throughout the 2025 regular season and playoffs.

According to ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg, the new jersey tweak to honor the five awardees is expected to continue beyond this season.

With the move, the NFL took a page out of MLB’s playbook. The major league’s six top award winners are all rocking gold-trimmed logos on their uniforms this season.

Allen will debut his patch on Sunday night as his Buffalo Bills take on the Baltimore Ravens to open the season. The gold trim will likely look sick on Allen when he rocks the Bills’ new all-white alternate uniforms.
