The NFL is trying to go ahead with business as usual as much as possible in light of the coronavirus pandemic, but eventually it seems likely that they’re going to run into significant problems with some scheduled offseason activities.
One unnamed NFL executive told NFL.com’s Judy Battista that he does not expect any organized team activities until training camp at the absolute earliest. That means no in-person offseason programs, including OTAs and minicamps.
Teams have discussed virtual workouts, including strength and conditioning coaches producing videos for players to follow at home. This, however, would be a problem for players who do not have access to workout equipment at home.
We know that the NFL Draft will take place as scheduled. Anything beyond that is a mystery and highly dependent on how the pandemic progresses. There is a very real chance that the summer months will be vastly different than what the NFL is used to.
