The NFL has made a decision on the status of Josh Jacobs to start the 2026 season.
The Green Bay Packers running back will start the season on the Commissioner Exempt List. That means Jacobs will still be paid, but will not be able to practice or play for the team.
In a statement, Jacobs’ attorneys David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld, and Clarence F. Duchac III said Jacobs’ placement on the list was “an administrative procedure used by the NFL while a matter is being reviewed,” and that he looks forward to returning to the NFL.

Jacobs was arrested during the offseason and initially faced a troubling set of domestic violence charges. Earlier this week, he was charged with two lesser crimes, which the NFL is still investigating.
Jacobs rushed for 1,329 yards in 2024 with 15 touchdowns, and he had 929 yards and 13 touchdowns this past year for Green Bay.
