NFL Network host Kyle Brandt took a shot at Ryan Clark

Ryan Clark issued an apology after he made some condescending remarks to one of his ESPN colleagues on the air last week, but the former NFL safety faced more criticism from a member of the media on Sunday.

During last Friday’s edition of “Get Up” on ESPN, Clark and some other analysts were discussing the Week 1 performance of Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who had several drops in the team’s 24-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Peter Schrager argued that Lamb still had a better night than Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, who was only targeted once in the game.

Clark disagreed with Schrager and then tried to embarrass the reporter on the air. Clark dismissed Schrager’s take as “the non-player in you” and said Schrager does not understand because he never played. You can see the video here.

Schrager signed with ESPN in April after spending several years as a reporter and analyst with NFL Network. On Sunday, Schrager’s former “Good Morning Football” co-host and friend Kyle Brandt took a not-so-subtle shot at Clark over the exchange with Schrager.

“It’s great to see you and it’s great to see everybody around the country today working there, especially on set in Los Angeles. And a special shoutout to the non-players today — we see you, we respect you, on our set and on several others,” Brandt said.

Clark is known for having public feuds with people. He also took a public swipe at Brandt years ago, and Brandt almost certainly has not forgotten it.

Clark apologized via social media for belittling Schrager, but many people feel like the exchange was a reflection of the type of person Clark is. While it is his job to be opinionated and stir the pot, he often takes things too far. His awkward scolding of Schrager was the latest example of that.
