NFL RedZone and commercial-free football will return in 2025, but there is a chance it may be without popular host Scott Hanson.
Front Office Sports reports that Hanson’s contract expired following the 2024 regular season and that negotiations on a new deal have hit a snag. Moreover, NBC is courting Hanson to serve in a multi-faceted role which would include both Olympic coverage and football coverage.
Hanson previously worked for NBC as part of their 2024 Paris Olympics coverage, hosting Gold Zone, which was a nearly-created highlights show that aired on Peacock.

“Scott brought his inimitable enthusiasm and energy to Gold Zone. NFL fans loved watching him transfer his ‘all-in’ mentality from football Sundays to the Paris Olympics,” NBC Olympics production president Molly Solomon told Front Office Sports last September.
“Each of our four hosts brought his own unique personality to the show, and Scott was certainly a key contributor to our process of re-imagining how Gold Zone could be experienced and consumed going forward.”
Although negotiations with NFL Media have hit a snag, lines of communication remain open with Hanson and there’s still hope the two sides can reach a long-term deal.
If Hanson were to leave for NBC or some other platform, early expectations are that Andrew Siciliano, who hosted DirecTV’s rival Red Zone channel from 2005 to 2023, could take over that role.
Hanson has hosted NFL RedZone since 2009, its inaugural season.
