Nick Bosa fined for his MAGA hat display
San Francisco 49ers pass rusher Nick Bosa received his fine on Saturday for displaying a “Make America Great Again” hat during a postgame interview on NBC last Sunday.
Bosa received a fine of $11,255 for the act, which is a violation of the NFL’s uniform and equipment rules. Under those rules, players are prohibited from “wearing, displaying, or otherwise conveying personal messages either in writing or illustration” without permission from the league office. The rule applies to messages that may be visible to the stadium audience or on television.

Bosa crashed NBC’s on-field interview while wearing the hat and pointed directly at it (video here), making this a pretty clear violation from the league’s point of view.
During the week, Bosa made clear that he had no regrets about the move and was ready to pay any potential fine. This will not come as a big surprise to him.
Bosa is having another strong season for the 49ers, with 4.5 sacks in eight games so far in 2024. There is some concern about his status for Week 10, as he picked up an injury during the week.
