There has been almost no consensus regarding which NFL team will draft Shedeur Sanders, but the odds are starting to point to a surprising outcome for the former Colorado star.
Sanders was once viewed by many as the best quarterback in the 2025 draft class. That honor now belongs exclusively to Cam Ward, who is all but certain to be taken by the Tennessee Titans with the first overall pick on Thursday night.
Sanders has a chance to be the second quarterback drafted, but some oddsmakers believe he may have to wait until Friday to hear his name called.
As of Wednesday morning, ESPN Bet listed Sanders with -120 odds to be drafted in the second round. Those odds imply that there is about a 50/50 chance of Sanders falling out of the first round altogether.

The New York Giants are the team with the highest pick that has shown legitimate interest in Sanders, but they seem unlikely to take him at No. 3. It is possible that they are thinking about having an opportunity to land the quarterback later in the draft.
Sanders has also been linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have the 21st overall pick. They are still waiting for an answer from Aaron Rodgers, but they may have interest in Sanders regardless.
Teams are not overly excited about this year’s quarterback class beyond Ward. At this point, it seems like Sanders has been lumped in with Jaxson Dart, Jalen Milroe and Tyler Shough.
We see teams reach for quarterbacks every year, which is why Sanders still has a solid chance of being drafted in the first round. One thing is for certain — he will have plenty to prove after all the reports that have circulated about him in recent weeks.
