Olivier Vernon: Sacks are better than sex

Olivier Vernon recently agreed to a contract with the New York Giants that will make him a very wealthy man. The good news is he’s still hungry for sacks and not resting on his laurels.

Vernon had a chat with Steve Serby of the New York Post, and the whole thing is pretty great. The one answer that sticks out is Vernon’s response when asked which he prefers: sacks or sex?

“I think sacks, man,” Vernon said, laughing. “Sacks are hard to come by.”

He’s right on that last part. Most of us will never collect a sack in the NFL.

Among other tidbits: Vernon wishes he’d had the chance to sack Peyton Manning and has a lot of respect for Tom Brady, calling him “tough” and rejecting the premise that he’s a whiner.

But don’t worry, Giants fans: that big contract won’t change Vernon.

“Everybody wants to get compensated for playing the game. I still have more things to check off right now, and I have plenty of more years left to do that.”

Considering the Giants just made him the highest paid defensive end in NFL history, they’d better hope he’s right about that.
