Are the Packers’ offensive struggles solely on Aaron Rodgers?

It was not too long ago that Aaron Rodgers was arguably the best quarterback in football. Lately, not so much.

The Packers are struggling on offense. Rodgers, who threw eight or less interceptions each season from 2011 through 2015, already has four this year. He has thrown nine picks in his last 11 games dating back to last season, and the five-time Pro Bowler is missing throws we used to see him make in his sleep.

So what’s the issue? Jordy Nelson has not looked nearly as explosive since returning from an ACL injury he suffered last year. Davante Adams still has not become the receiver the Packers expected him to be when they drafted him in the second round, and Eddie Lacy has struggling to remain in shape and healthy. However, one NFL source told Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole this week that Rodgers is the reason things are going poorly in Green Bay.

“One prominent NFL source put the blame for the Packers’ offensive woes squarely on the shoulders of Aaron Rodgers,” Cole said Wednesday. “The source said Rodgers is simply making the game too hard on himself. He has stopped throwing on time and is getting the Packers out of offensive rhythm.”

Fear not, Packers fans — the same source says the problem can be fixed. Thank goodness for that.

Rodgers was booed by Green Bay fans on Sunday as his team was getting blown out by the Dallas Cowboys and a rookie quarterback. He later had some funny remarks about how he plans to improve, and he does not seem overly concerned. Should he be?

The 3-2 Packers have looked mediocre in a conference that features some strong competition, including the undefeated Minnesota Vikings atop the NFC North. If Rodgers doesn’t get his timing issues figured out quickly, it may be too late for this year’s edition of his team to contend.
