Panthers and Saints fight after Cam Newton touchdown (Video)
After Cam Newton went airborne for a two-yard touchdown, tempers flared between the Panthers and Saints.
Following the score, Newton appeared to taunt Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan. Then, while Newton was doing his standard “Superman” celebration, linebacker Curtis Lofton shoved him from behind. Newton took exception, the two had words, the situation escalated, and next thing you know, punches were being thrown.
Lofton and Panthers tight end Brandon Williams were flagged for personal fouls. Williams was also ejected.
It’s been a rough season thus far for both teams, to say the least. New Orleans has lost three straight home games while Carolina hasn’t won a game since October 5. However, despite each being below .500, the NFC South title is still up for grabs. Add all of that together and you have frustration all around. And, as the Panthers’ Twitter account reminded us, football is an emotional game.
Football is an emotional and passionate game. #CARvsNO
