Pat Mahomes, the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has begun serving his jail sentence.

The elder Mahomes was arrested in February for driving while intoxicated. He is a repeat offender as this was his third such offense.

According to TMZ Sports, Mahomes was booked on Tuesday at the Smith County Jail in Tyler, Texas, to begin serving a 10-day jail sentence. The 10-day sentence was part of the terms of his deal for pleading guilty to DWI for the third time. Mahomes also has been ordered to five years of probation.

Mahomes was previously sentenced to 40 days in jail for his 2018 DWI arrest. He served those days over weekends in 2019 and 2020.

Mahomes, 54, pitched 11 seasons in MLB from 1992-2003. He was primarily a relief pitcher and went 42-39 with a 5.47 ERA during his career.

Despite being an accomplished professional athlete, Mahomes is now best known for being the father of Patrick Mahomes, who has won three Super Bowls as the quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs.
